BLACK LIVES MATTER

Hey guysss! I’m back. Today is a more serious kind of post I guess. As you probably know, there have been protests all over the world supporting the #blacklivesmatter movement. For hundreds of years, black people and people of colour have been oppressed and looked down upon. Since the time of slavery, unfortunately when we look at the facts, not much has changed. Governments all over the world favour those who don’t have a minority background or heritage. Society tends to treat POC unfairly and with injustice compared to how they treat white people. This is something called White privilege.

On 25 May, George Floyd was inhumanly killed by a white police officer called Derek Chauvin. George allegedly used a forged $20 bill therefore the police arrested him. Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck stopping his oxygen supply. A video of this happening was filmed and quickly spread across social media shocking the world. In the video George is saying ‘I can’t breathe’ while the police man kneels on his neck.

After many protests and petitions from all over the world, Floyd’s murderer  was eventually charged. However, he was only charged with 3rd degree murder meaning it was by accident, and from the images from the videos, this is clearly not the case. Three other police officers were also involved in the murder and they had not been charged. This made the world angry. They were many more protests until Chauvin’s charge was changed to 2nd degree and the other officers were charged.

Unfortunately, there have been many more examples where black people have died because of police brutality or simply for the colour of their skin. Breonna Taylor a black woman was shot in her own home by police. Ahmaud Arbery was shot while jogging in the park. Sadly, this is just a tiny fraction of the unfair killings of black people.

What some people need to understand is that BLACK LIVES MATTER. How many times do you need to hear it to understand. The whole world at the moment is chanting this phrase yet some people in the world still want to be racist. And it’s no good saying that you are non-racist. In today’s world you need to be ANTI-racist. And then there’s the delusional people that say ‘ bUt AlL LiVeS mAtTeR’. Nobody has said that all lives do not matter, of course they matter. But at the moment we are concentrating on the people who need help. All lives cannot matter until black lives matter too. It’s like if they was a park run supporting breast cancer you wouldn’t run around screaming ‘ALL CANCERS MATTER’.

Some people are wondering why people have all of a sudden started protesting now. They are wondering why haven’t people always been protesting if it has always been a problem. Here’s the thing there have always been protests, however the death of George Floyd was the tipping point. The last straw. Nowadays we also have the power of social media to help us. Social media helps us spread awareness and it can help educated people on the subject. The whole world saw the graphic videos and it shocked them.

Then there’s white privilege. Think about it. If there was a job on offer and there was a white person and a black person applying for the job with the same skills to offer who would the employer pick? The white person. In many countries such as America, when a black person goes outside it is like they are gambling for their life. The colour of their skin is seen as weapon. That doesn’t happen with white people. Another example of white privilege is the case of Madeleine McCann compared to the case of Shukri Abdi.

Madeleine McCann , a white middle-class girl ,went missing in 2007 and roughly £11m has been spent looking for her. Shukri Abdi was a Somalian refugee who was bullied at school. She was murdered and drowned by her own racist classmates. There were eyewitnesses and Shukri came out of the water with bite marks on her body yet the police have called it a tragic accident. Shukri came from Somalia where she had to deal with 40+ degree heat and she could deal with the British summer heat so she just had to go for a dip in the river??? Shukri’s family says she couldn’t even swim. The school that Shukri and her killers went to have given ‘support’ to the killers that they need. How disgusting is that. Police still refuse to reopen her case. This just shows white privilege. If Shukri had been a white girl and her killers were black she would have already been served justice.

As a mixed Black and Arab muslim girl, I have of course experienced racism in my life. However, because I live in London, I have no where near experienced it as badly as others. Some places are not as POC friendly.

There are many things you can do to help this cause. Protests all over the world have been happening. The media unfortunately at moment have been only should more violent protests and the lootings. There are many local and peaceful protests probably happening near you. Just make sure that if you do choose to go to a protest to stay safe and wear a mask. Another thing you could do to help is by donating money. This may be donating money to reopen cases, or money that goes to supporting black owned businesses or even providing money for education. If you are unable to donate money, there are many quick petitions you can sign. Petitions can help to reopen cases and have the right people charged.

So that is for today. I hope that from reading this you may have become more educated about the situation and cause and that it could have possibly opened your eyes to the problems around us.

BYEEEE

My day at bett (met someone special)

Hey guys!! It’s KK! I can’t believe that it is already February. Today, I am going to talk about an event I went to in January. On 26th January, my mum and I went to bett. Bett is a tech event that is held annually. This year, it was held at Excel. I suppose it is a kind of technology VidCon(without the you tubers). Bett is an event about tech in EDUCATION. Anyway, my mum and I went as she knew someone that had a stall there. She also booked us a coding masterclass. I definitely had a lot of fun and I did learn quite a few things.

I think my favourite stall in bett was the Microsoft AI juice bar. How it worked was that there was a screen with a camera on top and images would come up onto the screen. I think it would monitor your facial expressions and see what juice you were. I was a visionary so I got the visionary juice. The scariest thing it that it was apple, mint and elderflower which is my favourite drink!!! My mum was a creator and she got a mango drink which she loves as well!

To put the cherry on top of the cake, I met Ruth Peacey, who is a wildlife and conservative producer, director and filmmaker that loves penguins. She has worked with David Attenborough before!!! 😯 I asked her a few questions and she told me she was going to Antarctica and South Georgia to look at penguins. The reason Ruth was there, is because her and many other awesome people are on a website called Liketobe. To summarise things, I had a great time at bett and will certainly try to get tickets again next year.

I would also like to add that I am on half term and I am SO happy I don’t have to go to school.

So that’s it for today! AU REVOIR

P.S. Yesterday it was random act of kindness day and I had no idea! Did you?

1st Week of Food

Hey guys! What’s up, it’s KK. Welcome to 5 Weeks of Food! I am so happy that I am finally doing this for you! You might remember me saying in my last post that I would try to do food from around the world, however I thought it would be great to start the event with a simple British classic… strawberries and cream! Some people might think that its boring and that I could’ve come up with something better. Well if that’s what’s going on in your head right now, go and find another recipe to read! 😊 Instead of using double cream, I will whisk it to turn it into whip cream. Also, I will be adding melted chocolate. You don’t have to use whip cream or chocolate but that’s what I’m going to do! Without further delay, let’s get into it!

You will need a:

. Small bowl

. Spoon/ spatula

. Sauce pan

. Serving bowl

. Sieve (optional)

Ingredients:

. Whip cream

. Strawberries

. Dark chocolate

. Butter

. Icing sugar (optional)

Method:

  1. If you are making whip cream from scratch, pour some double cream into a bowl. Whisk until fluffy and light!

TIP: Make sure it has no lumps!

  1. To melt the dark chocolate, fill a saucepan half way with water and put it on the hob.
  2. Place a small bowl on top filled with pieces of chocolate.
  3. Stir the chocolate while it melts. After, add a little chunk of butter and let it melt with the chocolate.
  4. To get the melted chocolate at a nice consistency, slowly pour a bit of leftover double cream into the bowl.
  5. Now stir!
  6. Pour the whip cream into a bowl and place the strawberries inside or around it. Next, drizzle the chocolate on top.
  7. If you would like to, sprinkle some icing sugar on top with a sieve.
  8. Enjoy!!! 😊

I hope you enjoyed this classic recipe and that it wasn’t too boring!

So that’s it for today!  AU REVOIR

Chatty Post

Hey guys! What’s up, it’s KK. OK, before we start I would just like to ask everyone if they are in a royal mood! As you would probably know, (if you don’t where have you been!) Prince Harry and Meghan, who is now the duchess of Sussex, married! Anyway, enough with that, lets get into the post!

Today, I won’t really be talking about a specific thing, so I guess I’ll just chat. Mmmh…let me see. Oh yeah! A few days ago, I came home from school to see a pair of pigeons had made a nest and laid an egg! About two days after, my parents noticed that it had laid a second one. Well, that’s it really for the bird talk but I will put a photo down at the end of the post.

Next, I would like to talk about the upcoming event… 5 Weeks of Food! It will be happening in a few days depending on when I post this. Basically, what will happen is that every week for 5 weeks I will post a recipe. As I would like to keep it interesting, I will DEFIANTELY try to give a range of recipes from around the world; not just a specific continent or country! 😊 I have already written about the event in a previous post down below, so if you want more information check it out!

Also, one last thing, you may have realised that lately I have been writing a P.S. and maybe giving a shout out. I have now decided to always leave a P.S. or a shout out to anyone who follows me or comments. I am sure right now you are wondering why I am doing this. Well, it really is just another way for me to thank you for helping me out on the way and for almost 800 hits! 😊

So that’s it for today! AU REVOIR!

P.S. Contact me or comment if you would like me to do anything else after 5 Weeks of Food, like making lots of Kreative Projects!

Also, Ramadan Mubarak to any Muslims out there! 😊

P.S. Shout out to my friend Blanca for become a new follower of my blog!

Pancake day!

Hi guys! What’s up? The first thing I’d like to say is … HAPPY PANCAKE DAY!!!!!! Yes, you heard me it’s that GLOURIOUS day of the year when we get to eat a whole meal of JUST pancakes! Just thinking of it makes my mouth water! Without no doubt, I can guarantee you that homemade pancakes are 1000 times better that those ones that you get in the supermarket. Therefore, with no hesitation, I am going to tell you how to make 10 pancake in just 30 minutes!!!!  🙂

You will need a:

Wisk or a wooden spoon

Measuring jug

A mixing bowl

A frying pan

Ingredients:

. 100g of plain flour

. 2 large eggs

. 300ml milk

. A few drops of vanilla essence

. Butter for frying

Method

  1. Sieve the flour into the mixing bowl and both off the eggs and slowly pour the milk in. Using the whisk, mix everything! Your batter should be a sort of thick liquid that you can pour.

TIP: make sure your batter has no lumps!

  1. Put your frying pan on the hob. It doesn’t matter how big it is; it’s your choice in sizing! Turn the hob on medium heat and let it warm up. As soon as it’s warm, put a little bit of butter on the pan and swirl it around.
  2. Once your pan is ready, pour some batter in and leave it to cook on one side for around a minute

  1. FLIP IT!!!

  1. Cook the pancake on the other side for another minute. You should now have a golden-brown treat!

  1. Repeat steps 2-6 until you have finished all your batter! Now you have the choice of topping! 🙂

Topping ideas:

. ‘The Classic’- Lemon juice and sugar (I find this on revolting!)

. ‘The Brain Freeze’ – Ice Cream and any dessert sauce

And finally, the one that I made up: ‘The Ella Berry’ – Nutella and strawberries,

So that’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed your pancakes and next time try my recipe! AUREVOIR!

My First blog post

Hi guys! It’s KK (Kreative Kenza)! Today, it was my first day back at school from the Christmas Holidays!  I am going to tell you a bit about my day! J

I live in London, in my school we sit on tables and our teacher gives us work suitable for each person depending on which level you are.  This year our table’s names are named after some of Roald Dahl’s books. The names are: Wonkas, Matildas, BFGs, Peaches, Foxes and Crocodiles. Today we were sat onto different tables, as it was the beginning of a new term. I was sat onto Wonkas for Maths like before and Matildas for English.

If you haven’t read any of Roald Dahls books you should read some.

In the afternoon, my class had a philosophy lesson. We read a book and at the end, our teacher asked us what questions we thought of. She wrote them all down and we had to vote for which one you would like to discuss with the class. The most popular one was: “Why do we have so many wars going around the world and everything linked to it”.  Surprisingly, it was really interesting!

So, that’s it for today, AUREVOIR!
